Mental Health in Times of Uncertainty

Did you know that 75% of undocumented migrants suffer from anxiety and chronic stress?

Although the decision to migrate seeks to improve quality of life, emotions such as longing, frustration, and anguish can appear due to the uncertainty created by immigration policies and/or processes that we often don’t fully understand — but that affect our mental health.

In Soporte Entre Pares, psychologists Liliana Torella and Adriana Gioni had a conversation about “Mental Health in Times of Uncertainty” and shared tools to manage these emotions in our favor.

Our “Soporte Entre Pares” program is led by psychologists Rachel Lee, Adriana Gioni, and Liliana Torella and has offered, since 2018, a community-based, empathetic, and judgment-free space created to provide support and emotional containment to forced migrants seeking humanitarian protection in the United States.
