Since its inception VIA has focused on the realization of activities that contribute to the strengthening and union of our community.

Workshops

From the moment of its foundation, VIA has dedicated itself to promoting informative workshops in all those areas of interest of the Venezuelan community and the immigrant community in general. In these workshops, the assistants have had the opportunity to listen, always from experts in their respective fields, all the information they need to adapt and progress in New York City in the most effective and safe way possible. Most of the workshops have been carried out thanks to the support of important non-profit organizations that work for the welfare of the immigrant, which constantly invite to us to their informative activities and lend their spaces and/or experts so that VIA can impart theirs, all this under the modality of alliances.

Workshops on Health and Emotional Wellbeing

Taking into account the situation faced by our compatriots as immigrants, and based on the circumstances under which we have had to leave our native country, VIA has incorporated the emotional support talks into its program of activities. Psychological and emotional therapies, both individually and groups, are part of our community support’s plan.

English programs

Regardless of the reasons why we have chosen the United States as a destination to live, we have decided to do it in a country whose legal language is English. For this reason, and knowing that learning or improving the language opens the door to a wider range of opportunities, VIA has focused its efforts on establishing partnerships with individuals and institutions to teach English courses at all levels to our community. Depending on the level of knowledge of the language, the person is located in our pronunciation, conversation or beginner courses. We also provide information of the different courses offered by public libraries in New York City in our workshops, including low-cost English schools, universities, and institutions that dictate courses and accept international students.

Flavors and Colors in the Community

At VIA, we understand that for the new immigrant it is just as important to be well informed as it is the individual and collective emotional well-being. That is why we often hold events where the reencounter with our traditions, our typical food with the flavors and colors of each region, our music, and our name are the protagonists. Also, the importance of building new friendships, both with locals and members of our community, has been the reason to meet. As a result, a significant number of Venezuelans have already attended welcome dinners for refugees that different institutions in the city of New York constantly organize.
